Hawke's Bay
About the Region
Hawke’s Bay is New Zealand’s Food and Wine Country, and stands among global heavyweights like Bordeaux, Bilbao, and Napa Valley, having recently earned the title of Great Wine Capital of the world.
Hawke’s Bay is wide open skies. Grapes on a vine. Apples on a tree. Beach walks that go on for miles. Limestone cycle paths that go on for even more miles. Art Deco luxury on the seaside and farmer’s markets.
Long lingering lunches on long terraces amongst vines in the sunshine. Cool cafes and sophisticated urban restaurants. One of the oldest wine regions in New Zealand, Hawke’s Bay is also a produce-growing and farming powerhouse, where locals are passionate about the fresh ingredients found in their own backyard.
It is a country where paddock to plate cuisine is not so much an ideal, but a way of life. A place where visitors can take their pick from New Zealand’s foremost array of provenance-led culinary experiences delivered by passionate producers, suppliers, growers and creators.
All capped off with genuinely intriguing small towns and a couple of vibrant compact cities with a cultural beat that might just surprise you.
